Seeing a friend going through difficult times that mirror a recent time in your own life is hard. You have walked further down the path and know some of the many hurdles that will cause you to stumble and fall. Knowing you must get back up and face those same hurdles, morning after morning, lead to weariness of mind and body.
Rest away from the hard days is good for the body but the mind and spirit take a hit day after day. As the murky waters of your mind take over, jumping back into that routine proves frightening.
As a Christian it is more confusing. Where is my faith? Did I lose it somewhere between the physical labor it takes to care for a loved one and the uttered faltering prayer I toss out as the hours go by? There is no time for in depth bible study, there is rarely any time left for bible reading at night. Falling asleep after a verse or two, or being just too physically tired to sit down when all your body wants is to lie down and sleep – sometimes forever.
We lean in the arms of God at times like these, we seek the love and support of our family and friends. Christian friends are indispensable as they come, do, pray and hold you up time after time. Those same people must be able to accept where you are in your hard times though and respect the decisions that must be made. God will direct - we will have to accept what life has dictated at this one moment in time.
2 Corinthians 1: 10-11
He who rescued us from so deadly a peril will continue to rescue us; on him we have set our hope that he will rescue us again, 11. as you also join in helping us by your prayers, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted to us through the prayers of many.
